It is amazing to see how advanced humans have become since humans were cavemen. When we were cavemen, we hunted with spears and bow and arrows; today we hunt with pistols and automatic rifles. Long ago it took six months to deliver mail from the United States to England, today mail can be sent instantly by e-mail with the click of a mouse. The reason why our lives from the past are so different from the present is because of technology. Every human on this planet has benefited from the advancement of technology. Food and medicine can be produced cheaper and in more quantity which allows us to drop food packets and medicine in remote parts of Africa. Technology has opened up jobs for not only 25 or 40 year olds but for 15 year olds. But all this advancement comes from one invention, the computer, and it has been the computer, desktop, laptop, or microprocessor, that has truly revolutionized our standard of living.

It is very interesting to look at technology's development in our world. What we view as cutting edge today may be viewed as primitive in the future. Do you think the wheel is amazing? Well at one time, it was an incredibly revolutionary concept.

Out of all the inventions ever created, the computer has been the single invention that has revolutionized mankind. Computers have come a long way since it was first built. There are arguments about which computer was built first. In the 1820’s British-man Charles Babbage designed a “mechanical calculating machine” that did complex arithmetic but it wasn’t until the 1990’s when the actual machine was constructed.

The other computer was built in 1946 at UPENN called ENIAC and it is said to be the first because it was the first electronic computer. It was not only the first, but also one of the biggest computers ever built! Since that time computers have evolved very fast. …
