How to prevent getting sick?
Immunizations can help prevent a measles outbreak.
The MMR vaccine is a three-in-one vaccination that can protect you and your children from the measles, mumps, and rubella (German measles).
Children can receive their first MMR vaccination at 12-15 months and their second dose between the ages of 4 and 6.
Adults who have never received an immunization can request the vaccine from their doctor.
If you or a family member contracts the measles virus, limit interaction with others. This includes staying home from school or work and avoiding social activities.[4]

Can MMR vaccine cause autism*?
NO, there's clear evidence that the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine does not cause autism.
Concern about a link between the MMR vaccine and autism began in 1998, after the British medical journal The Lancet published a study connecting the vaccine with autism.
The study was very small – only eight children with autism participated – and has since been retracted by The Lancet because both clinical and biological data were falsified.
In 2004 a much larger study in The Lancet compared 1,294 children with autistic spectrum disorders with 4,469 unaffected children and found that the MMR vaccine doesn't raise the risk of autism or other autism spectrum disorders.
