The article "Characterizing Tourist Sensitivity to Distance" Written by Juan Luis
4) Results obtained and discussion.
The results author introduced as two tables and one figure. Table 1 shows the global results that present the preferences of an average tourist. Figure 1 shows the distribution of sensitivities to distance.
Table 2 shows the variance inflation factor (VIF) for each of the regression coefficient. The significance tests of the parameters shows that the determinants of the response to distance are income, number of children, size of the city of residence, use of intermediaries, transport mode, interest in discovering new places, variety-seeking behavior and motivations.
Juan L. Nicolau generalize all the information he has obtained during his study and brings out the limitations of his study: (1) the study focused on domestic tourism, (2) he assumes that individuals included all destinations (50 pieces) in their choice sets, (3) he does not consider a specific destination but any of the destinations chosen by Spanish individuals. The author hopes that his study could be supported by research on other geographic areas to make comparisons.
The list of articles, books and journals which were used to help Nicolau in his research.
