Total Quality Management. The Purpose of this Paper Is to Define Total Quality Management (TQM)
The company I currently work for is a Oil and Natural Gas production company based in Kern County. Our organization began implementation of TQM/Lean efforts about 5 years ago. Although, the first implementation efforts where a bit uncomfortable because of basic cultural differences in the manufacturing industry and the Oil Production Industries. The barriers where finally overcome due to the commitment of our senior leadership and their commitment to waste elimination and quality improvements. Senior leadership identified that the are the desired benefits of TQM/Lean world class companies, no matter what industry they do business.
Our leadership has made the commitment too develop a division within our organization that trains company personnel in TQM/Lean, as well as, assist in implementation of quality improvement efforts. The Lean department reports directly to the CEO, the commitment by our leadership and our ability to implement TQM/lean process throughout our organization have made us a leader within our industry.
