Techniques:
Colour as symbolism: The use of colour has a lot to do with the concept of change in Leunig's 'Let it Go'. We can see that the man is surrounded by darkness, which can be interpreted as a symbol for a difficult time or period; however the path that is unravelling is white. White is a common symbol for good, while black is often associated with evil and fear. The white path traversing through the dark world suggests that allowing change to occur and not trying to control it will eventually lead you out of 'darkness' ora difficult time.
Repetition - The repetition of "let it" changes the tone of the poem, from being something that seems gloomy and depressing to something more. The repetition turns it into a command and Leunig almost orders us to 'let it go'. This suggests that people are usually quite protective of their control on changes, and for them to relinquish it they would need to be ordered to do it. This accentuates the main theme of the poem which is that we must let go of controlling changes.
