"So that, thus it is that natural men are held in the hand of God, over the pit of hell." Not only was he a theologian and a philosopher. He was a brilliant writer. The powerful writings of Jonathon Edwards have heavily influenced modern literature from the beginning to the end of his life.
In the beginning of his life he made many contributions. He was born in Connecticut. He entered Yale at age thirteen after studying Latin, Greek, and Hebrew (Jonathon Edwards, Homepage). He later graduated and was converted to Jesus Christ. Edwards became a pastor of the Northampton church in Massachusetts where he succeeded his grandfather. At the time this was one of the most influential churches outside of Boston. He was later dismissed from the church due to unpopular beliefs. He believed in strict rules which didn't go over well with the congregation. From here he went to the mission post of Stockbridge. …
