The largest political organization The Popular Front of Latvia showed their influence on Latvia’s inhabitants and central legislative power, which led to independence of Latvia. The Popular Front of Latvia was founded in 1988, in their first congress. In the beginning Popular Front of Latvia had different tasks, which were not directly connected with stimulate idea of the independence of Latvia. Their tasks were in political, social, external, economy sphere and in their first program there were fixed national sovereignty in Soviet Union. Also the Popular Front of Latvia organized different actions, after they came up with idea about Latvia’s independence. However, the first accepted program was not effective for independence, so this organization made second program with strong aim to get independence of Latvia, so this aim had strong influence on our society. The idea of freedom consolidated, inspired people and made them stronger.
First of all, as a result of citizens’ support to the manifestations organized by The Popular Front of Latvia came up with strong aim to get independence. One day before the foundation of The Popular Front of Latvia there was a manifestation organized by this organization with a slogan „About judicial state”, taking place in Mežaparks. There met many thousands of people, some in folk costumes, with flags of Latvia, and songs – all flowed together.…
