Darba fragmentsAizvērt

He stresses the importance of verbal displays during courtship. It seems that flirtatious conversation with your potential mate serves as a window to the partners mind. Through the speaking, listening, storytelling and remembering, a mental quality of mate can be analyzed in great depth. Author also believes that flirting helps humans to receive pleasure and satisfies need for novelty. He even uses a term “neophilia” – a love for something new. And the best way how to attract the mate, Miller argues, is to display high mental quality by telling stories and jokes. There is no secret, that human mind is more attracted to fantasies than practical stories, if not so, we wouldn’t binge watch Netflix series. The most common reason for divorcing the sexual partner is boredom (Miller, 2000). Therefore, Miller believes, that development of language played a crucial role in sexual selection (or both coevolved).

Conclusions
The purpose of this report was to determine basic principles of mate selection in human females. In the beginning of report it was stated, that humans compete for mates with most desirable traits. Man and women differ in amount of parental investment, therefore they have evolved different mate preferences – women are more attracted to men who can obtain resources.
