Erich Paul Remark
German novelist, Erich Paul Remark, who later in 1923 became known as Erich Maria Remarque, was born on June 22, 1898 in Osnabruck. He became famous after writing the novel All Quiet on the Western Front, one of the best-known anti-war novels ever. He went on to write more successful novels but none compared to his first big success. For his writings between the time of 1914 and 1945 Erich Maria Remarque is still seen as one of the most honest and convincing writers.
