Marketing products is pointless if the marketers are unaware of the consumers needs and wants. Without knowledge of the areas of behavioural sciences it would be virtually impossible for marketers to identify any characteristics of their consumers. Without this it would not be possible to achieve maximum sales and product potential.
Marketing by definition is all about 'Anticipating, identifying, satisfying, customers needs and wants'. (Wright 1999:13) The behavioural sciences such as sociology and psychology are paramount in achieving this goal. Throughout this assignment it is apparent how many of the topics I have discussed are interlinked. Companies must be aware that changing one of the factors I have listed may adversely affect other factors involved. Therefore careful planning is essential for any company to achieve a successful marketing programme.
