2. Explore and describe the general definition, history, main characteristics and importance of technical translation these days;
3. Provide information related to approximate income of technical translators across the globe;
4. Conduct a survey with questions related to the field of translation;
5. Systemise the obtained data.
The study concludes that technical translations are often used in the fields of engineering, architecture, construction and industrial areas. They also help companies expand internationally in many different ways. Technical translation is needed if a company wants to meet the requirements of international markets. Moreover, this type of professional translation could save many modern-day industries. Technical translator’s profession is utmost importance when things come to accuracy, differences in format, compliance, cultural nuances and brand perception. Translation salaries vary considerably as they depend on various factors, for instance, the country of employment, language pair, language direction, specialization and whether the translator works as a freelancer or in-house employee. Translators for the European Union and United Nations tend to earn the most. The results of author’s conducted survey show that technical translation is more popular among legal persons than physical persons. It is an important, but, at the same time, specific profession, whereas IT specialists or programmers are everywhere, and it is well-known that professions related to computing field are more appealing in general.
