Connotative meaning is a type of lexical meaning that is related to connotations. A connotation can be defined as the emotional association evoked in the reader by a word; it can be positive, negative, or neutral. It is believed that the frequency of a certain kind of meaning varies in texts from different fields. This term paper suggests that neutral connotative meaning is most frequently applied when translating engineering and technology texts. The term paper aims to translate and analyze a text belonging to the field of engineering and technology in order to assess the proportion of lexical items carrying positive, negative or neutral connotative meaning. The results showed that 55.8% or more than a half of examples that were found and analysed reflected a neutral connotation.
