French Revolution: Napoleon

-3 parts of Italy: Kingdom of Italy, Paple states, Kingdom of Naples
-Napoleon invaded Spain, his ally under Charles IV, and conquered it quickly but the peasants of Spain rebelled using guerrilla warfare
-England sends troops to help the Spanish and the conflict bled Napoleon's armies and became known as the Spanish Ulcer
-Napoleon invades Russia with a 600,000 man Grande Army because it was trading with England but Russia burnt the countryside as it retreated into Russia-a scorched Earth policy
-Napoleon fought Russia at the Battle of Borodino- Russia lost 40,000 men, Napoleon lost 30,000 and Russia retreated so the French conquered Moscow. but Russia burnt it down and the brutal Russian winter had arrived so Napoleon was forced to retreat losing 4/5 of his army on the way
- 4th Coalition was formed in 1813 and at the Battle of Leipzig Napoleon loses and was exiled to the island of Elba in the Mediterranean Sea by the Congress of Vienna
-Louis VIII was made King of France but Napoleon returned and retook control of France
-5th Coalition was formed and in 100 days Napoleon was defeated by the Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo and exiled to St. Helena, off the coast of Argentina
