Darba fragmentsAizvērt

The different characteristics of the New Age offer different paths that lead to the same goal: to awaken our conscience and consciousness, and to lead a more caring, nurturing balance life, respecting all life. The author states that it is a female-dominated movement, but as current figures show male participation and involvement are on the rise - it is a human and humane movement, not gender exclusive. Similarly, the male domain of bullfighting (although repulsive in my mind) is slowly giving way to gender equality.
As the diversity of the above articles show, environmental issues are complex, controversial, political and, in spite, of everything, most subjective. The average person tends to become more aware or involved if an issue touches his mind and, more importantly, his emotions. Scientific research, facts and figures, although foreshadowing proof of threats of extinction, remain abstract and objective. Media coverage including visual stimuli (such as The Advertiser article with pictures) arouses interest/curiosity, and by becoming subjective, touches one's humaneness. This raises our consciousness and calls upon our responsibility to search for immediate solutions, to nurture and preserve life, whether it be human, animal or organic, because all is interwoven.
