In today's world we are going more and more closer to the wireless world. New devices are in the market which provide the user with mobility to roam anywhere with the same device. New ranges of mobile and cellular devices are enabled with the WAP and GPRS.
We face so many problems when we try to connect the mobile device to the network. The main problem is that we are not able to continue the communication with the mobile device when the mobile device changes the network. So to solve all this problem IETF come with the new standards for adding mobility to the IP and the concept of the MOBILE IP come in existence.
Mobile IPv6 allows any host to move to any network transparently maintaining the connection of the host to the Internet world. To maintain the connection IPv6 use the concept of the same IP address regardless of the connection point. To do this whenever host move from the home network to the foreign address it tell the hone agent about its new point of connection and ask the home agent to forward all the messages to its address to the new address.
This mechanism is completely transparent for all the upper layers as TCP, UDP. In this way the host is always identified by its home address regardless of the connection point. There are some terms used when we talk of Mobile IP. They are as follow: Binding, Care-of-Address, Foreign Link, Home Address, Home Agent, Foreign Agent and Movement.
