H.G. Wells wrote "The Time Machine" in 1895. It was the first novel by Wells and was to be the story that launched H.G. Wells successful career and earned him the reputation as the father of science fiction. Wells went on to write more books such as "The Island of Moreau" (1898), "The Invisible Man" (1897, "The War of the Worlds" (1898), "The First Men in the Moon" (1901) and "The War in the Air" (1908).
