Throughout Rivera's life he was a figurehead in the development of national art in Mexico. At the age of seventy, with the opposing forces in his life, and in Mexican culture, finally in balance, he died in November 1957. He had many achievements in his life, but probably his most notable achievement was re-introducing frescoes and providing a way for the public to see his art and ideas. In depicting scenes of American life on public buildings, Rivera provided the first inspiration for Franklin Delano Roosevelt's WPA program. This lead to hundreds of American artists finding work through that program. Even today, artists present his views and controversial issues in their artwork. Diego Rivera has had a profound effect on the world of art and his artistic influences are still present today.…
