The drugs are aimed to affect levels of serotonin which is a signaling chemical in the brain.
Savant Syndrome is a curious disorder, which science may not ever be able to cure. Because of the complexity of a human brain and the inability to discover, and experiment on a live specimen hinders research. Therapy is a step in the right direction. But I do believe that the mind of a savant is not of lower intelligence, rather they have a much higher intelligence in other areas. In conclusion I would like to quote Dr. Darold A Treffert, "The significance of the savant syndrome lies in our inability to explain it. The savants stand as a clear reminder of our ignorance about ourselves, especially how our brains function".
