There is no advertising about movies, music, sports or other kinds of entertainment, only consumer goods and the better life available on the off-planet colonies. Shots of the cityscape often depict colourful billboards juxtaposed with the harsh infrastructure of an overused metropolis which further emphasizes the notion that should mankind be left to run wild, collective greed constantly overshadows individual compassion.
Both 'Brave New World' and 'Blade Runner' presents us with dystopic futures which have resulted from the negative ramifications of unbridled technological advancement of present generations. Huxley's 1920's context has led to his satirical take on the commercialism of life processes and the viability of a truly stable government, whilst Ridley Scott's 1980's context during a period of fast moving technology and faster declining morals has led us to question nature's resilience against human greed. Yet both texts challenges and redefines the concept of 'In the Wild' to convey a message that ultimately warns us that should we not respect nature and it's relentless rhythms, the futures of 'BNW' and 'Blade' may one day be our own.
