Language. Dialects
The latvian language has 3 major dialects, the main being the Middle latvian dialect. It’s the official dialect used in the Latvia, so it is the one we use in literature and learn in schools.
The second dialect is the Upper land dialect, also know as the Latgalian language. It is very different from the middle dialect, altough it is still based on the latvian language. Usually it’s hard for the regualr latvian to understand this dialect.
The third dialect is the Libian dialect, which is used in the northern parts of Latvia. The biggest difference in this dialect comes from word endings, which in this dialect usually are cut off or changed
