A survey compiled on the British population shows that the requirements for nutrients, such as iron, show a normal distribution.
The percentage of the population that has a requirement for iron below the LRNI (lower reference nutrient intake) is 2.28% and the RNI (reference nutrient intake) is also 2.28%. The percentage of the population that has a requirement for iron between the LRN and RNI can be found out by adding the two then taking it away from 100% to find out the total. Therefore the percentage population between the LRN and RNI is 2.28% + 2.28% = 4.56% - 100% = 95.44% the total amount is 95.44%
Nutritionists recommend that people consume the RNI for nutrients such as iron, to help maintain a healthy diet for the body to function correctly without having an effect on a person's health.
