Before student starts to analyze the novel it is very important to understand the period of time, when this work had been written. The political situation and social problems in the country can impact the novel very much.
The 19th century in the Great Britain was time of changes. The head of the country was Queen Victoria therefore in some books can be found the term Victorian period. The colonialism spread with astonishing speed to such continents as the Africa, the Asia, the West’s Indies and the America. The Great Britain became the most powerful country in the world.
Nevertheless in Britain itself the situation was not so good. It was time of economical distress and evolution theory, and the major social disagreement about women’s rights.…
