Lying on my back, a foot deep in snow, I looked up at the blue sky. The wall of snow, around me, felt like a chasm. All I could hear were two birds fluttering among the dry pine tree branches. Time stood still, just for me. My heart felt so heavy that I was suffocating. I was all alone underneath the bright blue sky, a perfect moment frozen in time. I have tried hard to get that feeling back, even for a moment. I found a part of that moment at the ice-covered horseshoe of the Niagara Falls.
