Results - Mandela successfully ended the government policy of apartheid, and improved the living standards for black South Africans. However, violence and bloodshed were devastating results from the anti-apartheid movement, and although apartheid laws no longer exist, apartheid is present in South African society today in the form of racism and prejudice.
