The text deals with the English after the year 1066 and its capability to comprise different cultures, races and nationalities. A great deal of the text focuses on the city of London, its cultural heritage, peculiarities, inhabitants and their everyday life.
The text is non-fiction as it describes the current situation and gives statistic and historical information. Its aim is to reveal some interesting facts about the English and Londoners, as well as to educate the reader about some cultural traits of both. The audience can be anyone above 15 years of age as the information given can be perceived as sophisticated or as simple as the reader prefers.
The opening paragraph is introductory; it gives the insight to the English as a nation and enumerates many nationalities and ethnical groups that have now become the English.
In the next two paragraphs the author focuses on the English and immigrants, who are proud of their decadence and hold on to their traditions and customs, even though they are far away from home.…
