Thanks to globalisation, barriers separating nations are starting to lose their purpose. However, while some believe that in the foreseeable future borders between countries will be abolished, I side with those who feel geographic boundaries will always exist.
On the one hand, it could be argued that in the short run borders between countries will cease to exist. With certain aspects of globalization being introduced into our daily lives, nations all over the world are becoming more united. For example, mass culture - the set of ideas and values that develop from a common exposure to the same media, news sources and art - has started to eliminate the need for cultural boundaries. Moreover, supporters of this view argue that the eradication of borders has already proven to be successful. In particular, the Schengen Area signifies a zone where many European countries have abolished their internal borders for the free and unrestricted movement of people. …
