It appears thus far that group therapy is very powerful and effective as a treatment for sexual child abuse. However, family support is such a strong correlate in determining the successfulness of recovery that family therapy should automatically be part of treatment. It would be difficult and almost unproductive to treat a victim that must return to a family dynamic that may have equally contributed to the psychological maladaptive behavior as the actual act of abuse. Research should definitely be conducted varying different modes of therapy in conjunction with family therapy. It has been often said that "psychology is not an exact science", well neither are the minds of human beings, let alone the thought processes of a young child who has been sexually abused. One should keep this in mind when wanting to standardize a solution for any kind of psychological disorder.…
