Sports can play an important role in a young person’s life because adolescence is a period when habits, identity, social relationships, and attitudes toward health are still developing. Participation in sport can provide regular physical activity, structure the week, create social connections, and teach young people how to work toward long-term goals. A teenager who trains several times a week learns that improvement usually does not happen immediately. Strength, endurance, technical skill, coordination, and tactical understanding are built through repeated effort. This experience can influence how the young person approaches school, work, and personal goals because sport makes the relationship between practice and progress very visible. At the same time, sport is not automatically positive in every situation.…
