The idea of Europe as a single market is one of the main principles of the European Union’s existence since the union has been founded. It is not difficult to describe the idea that lies behind the factor of the single market in simple terms – all countries of the European Union should join together in order to increase the total output of Europe. However, this is the point where usually the “knowledge of European Union as a single market” gets interrupted. Many people of Western countries of the European Union can answer this question but, surely, only few of the citizens of Eastern members can find answers to this question. The essay shall be structured in the following way: first, the idea about Europe as a single market will be explicitly explained. Second, some insights on the historic aspect of the European Union as a single market will be given.
