Summary:
OPG is a very large company with a quite complex logistic system. They have a very strict policy when it comes to delivery times. If they promise to deliver a shipment before 16.00 then they will do all they can do to deliver it before that time.
OPG makes use of computer systems to organize their logistic process. They use a paperless picking system to pick most of their orders. This is a complex system but it has a few benefits. It automatically checks the stock, this saves a lot of time for OPG because they do not have to worry about their stock-level. A warning will appear on the computer when the stock of a product is running low. Then they know that they have to order more of these products.
OPG does not have any ISO certificates. There are special arrangements for pharmaceutical products and supplements. DistriMed and OPGMedico do have these certificates, ISO 9001 and ISO 9002. OPG does have an output-quality check, since this is obliged by the law.
OPG prefers it when orders are placed through the internet, in this way they can easily put them in their own computer systems with one click of a mouse. When orders are placed though mail or fax this takes more time for OPG, because the order has to be put in the computer by hand. The order system OPG works with is OPG, which is very a very useful program if the person who uses it, is able to work with it.
Stocks are very important for OPG. They should have all the products in stock that a customer might require. OPG has a constant stock of about 36 million. There are around 22.000 products in stock at OPG.
