Often times, it seems very hard for people to stray away from their beliefs or come up with their own. According to the American Psychological Association, "with religion many find a rock against which the pressures of society, the vagaries of daily life, the apparent inevitabilities of history, the assaults of enemies and the insults of the careless--all recede." A lot of times faith is the only thing that people have to base their morals and ways of life, so when an authority figure in their church preaches something such as their view for or against homosexuality, in many instances, the members of their congregation will follow. These outside influences can affect how people believe and prevent people from thinking for themselves. Indviduals base what they believe on the perception that they have been exposed to. No matter if this perception is right or wrong, these people have had no opportunity to sense reality and come up with how they think for themselves. Often times this is how people base their lives, and without a factual environment a faith built solely on opinion is formed.…
