I would rather spend the money for the degree than the technical training.
I have done a lot of research into the accounting field. My findings within this research have made me want to change my field of study. I searched online on several career websites and found that there are more jobs for Certified Public Accountants and Certified Internal Auditors listed on Monster.com and Hotjobs.com than there are for high tech jobs. I am salary driven as well. According to an article in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, (2004), "As for long-term growth potential, starting partners in public accounting firm's average about $150,000, with the potential to earn much more over time. managers/directors can expect salaries of $78,500 - $116,500 (large firms), $68,250 - $93,250 (medium firms), and $64,000 - $85,250 (small firms)". The thought of being able to make that amount of money so that I may live more comfortably and be able to take care of my family, makes me feel energized.
