Another difference affects the admission: in Britain it is regulated by examinations or interviews, but in most Latvian universities for the last few years only centralized state examinations are being taken into consideration. However, the whole scientific degree system is equal, and the learning process is quite similar, consisting of lectures and tutorials, but with a major difference: in Latvia each student doesn’t have a tutor who is responsible for the student’s progress, as it is in Britain. However, universities of both countries participate in international student exchange programs and in EU education and research projects. Also Latvia and Great Britain even have some joint projects.
In conclusion it is clear that Latvia is a smaller country, with less resources, smaller budget and not so developed economy compared to Britain.
After looking closer at both countries we could observe that Britain and Latvia are completely different countries. This analysis makes us think that these two countries have nothing in common, but that is not true. They are both European countries, with more or less equal standards, values, laws and society in general.
