After watching this movie twice, the first time with no subtitles and the second time with English subtitles, I began to see the impact of mass communication to society through mass media like newspapers and radio. Mass media have a wide coverage and the messages transmitted through these mediums can become very powerful. It can influence a person's thoughts. If many people are talking about the same piece of news, then the news will seem to be "real". In the movie, Kane became supercilious because of his media influence on society, he manipulated the news and he used his newspapers to make people think the way he wanted them to. In the end, it was the mass media that
publicized his scandal with a singer, which ruined his career and destroyed his reputation. From all those incidences, we can conclude that mass media does play an important role in communication and its impact on the society is incredible.
