When you push the shutter release, a tiny round hole opens.Through that hole light rays pass. They fall on the film or plate inside and leave an imprint of whatever the camera is aimed at.
This is similar to the way our eyes work.
Look at them in the mirror. You see a round colored circle in the center of each. Some people have brown ones, others have grey or green. That is the iris.
In the very center you can see a black dot. But it is not a dot, but a small hole. It is called the pupil. Through it light rays pass into the eye and strike the retina, leaving a smaller image of what the eye is looking at.
Light rays enter the camera after passing through a convex glass lens. In the eye, light rays pass through another convex, transparent crystalline lens. Like the camera lens, it concentrates the rays into a narrow, bright bundle.
But there are differences.A camera is square. But the eye is round, like a ball. It is even called the eyeball.…
