The story “My Oedipus Complex” by Frank O’Connor presents the first person narration. The choice of the main character Larry as the narrator has given the author several advantages in revealing the story.
The first person narration is widely used by authors of short stories. It can be explained by the simple fact that in such a short narrative switching between different points of view could be confusing to a reader. Although also the third person narration can refer to one person’s the viewpoint, the first person narration gives additional advantage to make language fit the character of the narrator.
