Unlike this country, the films of Latin America are not afraid to comment and criticize the politics and national problems that they are facing. To generalize, radical change is a much more common occurrence in South America. Because of this, frustration and anger about the government's inability to stabilize the country is much stronger in these nations. I believe the theme of apathy is so prevalent because to the thinkers of these countries, it is the initial problem that led to their impoverished conditions.
The economic gaps, coups and dictators, and ever-changing social climate constantly throw a land seeped in national pride into turmoil and confusion. To classify a general title for the state of national identity of these countries, one would be missing the deeper picture. However the films that come from these nations help to give us outsiders a sense of how interesting and troubling Latin American culture can be.
