5.0 CONCLUSION
It is concluded from this report that an e-learning and communications structure is not just beneficial to the Division and the University but is essential.
We are in the business of all aspects of knowledge. We teach knowledge, share knowledge, create knowledge, use knowledge and challenge knowledge. The proposed structure will make sure that the BIM Division and University as a whole will benefit from greater variety in these methods.
The IS strategies will allow the technological aspects of the infrastructure to be implemented correctly. It is concluded that training will be a pertinent issue and that the procurement of two new software application developed by BT (Jasper and Contact Space) should be made.
Knowledge management (KM) approaches will provide the effective means of communicating and accessing information. It will provide the basis for introducing e-learning and the construction of e-learning communities.
The decision on a member of staff becoming the CKO has also been made and this will benefit all staff and the University as well should it decide to implement the system campus-wide.
