In reading "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" by Jules Verne, the last paragraph was very interesting to think about in Christian terms. This passage means is that if a person has a cold heart, but experienced something so powerful and spiritual that it has taught him or her about kindness, then he or she should be forgiven.
