Why Do People Need to Know what Decisions Have Been Made about Them and how Can Individuals Get Access to That Information?

In the case FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION vs. ABRAMSON (1982) it shows the individuals rights out weighing the governments and government agencies. This case was held in the same year that the freedom of information Act was introduced. Abramson, a journalist, filed a request with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for documents relating to its transmittal to the White House of information concerning individuals who had criticized the Presidential administration. The Federal Bureau of Investigation denied the request.
The federal court found that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was guilty of violating the Freedom of Information Act (1982)
This case shows that the freedom of information lessens the privacy and secret information of the government and makes it more available to the public.
