DPS - an electric device that stimulates the diaphragm to contract and relax, enabling paralyzed patients to breathe.
Can be used in cases of:
spinal cord injuries,
muscular dystrophies of the diaphragm,
intensive care setting in respiratory short-term.
The NeuRx Diaphragm Pacing System
Consists of:
4 electrodes implanted in the diaphragm to stimulate the muscle
a 5th electrode under the skin to complete the electrical circuit
a pulse generator
The NeuRx™ Clinical Station
1) provides intra-operative stimulation 2) optimizes the Amplitude, Pulse Frequency, Respiration Rate and Inspiration Interval post operatively.
3) communicates the desired setting to the NeuRx DPS™ pulse generator.
