Which means - a new and powerful institution developed, "the market," and with it, commerce and trade. Also on the Bali island in Indonesia cooperation of farmers sharing the available water has enabled them to grow several crops of rice each year without pesticides or outside fertilizer. This sharing mostly was made possible by a religious system.
Although views with Melanesian men jumping from tower were a bit shocking, in general I find this film interesting and educational. I noticed how people from simple hunter-gatherer society evolved into societies which domesticate plants and animal, societies which are not so mobile and do not flee, they rather practice intensive agriculture with different effective and ingenious methods. They are able to produce with surplus thus in some societies institutions like markets appear.
