The historical importance of the locomotive is that if we didn't have the locomotive most products like wood, metals, any kind of building materials would take long periods of time to get to one place. Also houses, buildings, and any kind of place would take a very long time to build. Many people wouldn't of moved west because they would have to go on a horse wagon.
My opinion on the locomotive is it was a very important piece of history. The locomotive helped businesses by transporting materials and food supplies faster and safer. The locomotive helped people travel faster more comfortable and even more safe. Overall the locomotive helped improve life.
