THC, delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol, the strongest intoxicating substance in dagga, stays in the body fat for months, even years. A person who smokes dagga 2 or 3 times a week is constantly under the influence of the substance. Dagga damages the bodies' immune system, which leads to greater susceptibility to infectious disease. Alcohol does not.
