What does that mean? If you make five mistakes, you can only get 50% of the grade in Latvian. Do not forget – there are no right or wrong answers.”
Reading E. Wardle’s and D. Downs’ book Writing about writing and remembering my teacher’s little speech that she said every time we had some writing to do (for six years), I could not believe that teachers do not pay attention to students-writers’ ideas in the United States. I thought that it is a matter of course; I was wrong again. At this point of threshold, I really appreciate my teacher’s teaching methodology, grading system and psychology. I think America’s educational system has room for development.
There are definitely differences between these two cultures (Latvian and American) in communication traditions. Although I cannot say that one of them is more superior than other, because both of them have specific and useful traits. In my opinion, the best way to use unusual information and experience is to combine and get the best out of it; that is what I will try to do.
