Humans are social animals. They live and interact with each other in society. In the following lecture I will examine society as framework within which human interaction takes place. I will discuss the nature of society, its charcteristics and functions. My lecture includes the various forms of interaction that take place on a societal level.
Human interaction occurson several levels of organization. One level is the interpersonal level, in which two communicatingindividuals influence each other's thoughts and actions. Another is the group level, in which three or moreinteracting persons share joint activities. A third level is the societal level, in which interaction occurs among the members of a self-perpetuating group (a society) which includes persons of bouth sexes and all ages.
We can consider human interaction on the interpersonal and group levels, but I will consider human interaction on the societal level. I will discuss the organization of the general social system as well as the various forms of interaction which take place within it. …
