Italy – republic of south Europe, bounded on the north by Switzerland and Austria; on the east by Slovenia, the Adriatic Sea and the lonian Sea; on the south by the Strait of Messina, which separates it from Sicily; and on the west by the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Ligurian Sea and France. It comprises, in addition to the Italian mainland, the Mediterranean island of Elba, Sardinia and Sicily, and many lesser islands.

Land of heritage.
After UNESCO position there are most of all landmarks - approximately 70% cultural heritage in Italy. Those built old Italian nationals – Etruscans and Latin or Romans and Renaissance masters.

History.
At the outbreak of World War Two in September, 1939, the Italian government took the position that it was under no obligation to aid Germany military because Hitler had rebuffed an Italian proposal for the arbitration of German – Polish differences.
