To use any illegal drug is against the law and personally I cannot stand or tolerate such weak minded so-called people. I can honestly say that I never used an illegal drug in my life, however, I'm sure a few people would question that. That seemed simple enough, but as we all know, this is a much bigger issue than just saying it's an illegal act by law. We need to look at what could happen if people that have illegal drugs in their system, show up for work in my business. In my business, we are subjected to work with dangerous equipment to include some very dangerous work environments. We always put the mission first but over all as a Leader (Supervisor), we always have to look at Operational Risk Management (ORM) or in short, the safety of our unit in our daily work and training environment. I could not even bring to imagine what it was like in the seventies, when the use of illegal drugs was somewhat of a common norm within the service. The bottom line, drugs and the use drugs, are no good and could not serve my troops or me any purpose. As a member of a Marine Infantry unit, taking part in a live-fire training mission or on the battlefield, drugs can only impair your judgment, or in some cases, your sense of reality which in turn could cause the death of the individual, or worse yet, the death of someone else in the unit. …
