The new store is expected to be imposing, with more than 8.000 square feet and a street level showroom, where complete projects, such as rooms, will be exhibited and sold, in addition to a lower retail floor. With this last store, the number 74 in New York, Home Depot will be having almost three times as many stores as Lowe's, the second largest retailer in U.S., has in the same region.
The company is looking to modifying their products to meet its costumers' needs. Manhattan costumers differ significantly from those in other locations and in order to succeed is indispensable to take into account the community and its environment. Firstly, they are seeking to take advantage of special delivery services due to the great amount of people choosing convenient public transportation instead of cars. Other factors the retailer will be considering are population density, scale of demand, sophistication of tastes and strength of the economy, making of this city an extremely attractive market in where to compete.
In addition, the new store will bring new resources to Manhattan's community, having as a priority the creation of new jobs.
