In the last year alone, more than eight percent of the Indigenous residents become visible in a criminal court, four times more often than the rest of the society. Almost sixteen percent of all Aboriginal people going to court were sentenced to prison compared with just over six percent of the rest of the population. These figures symbolize a real misfortune taking place in our state, the troubles of colonised people in a commanding system. This shows confirmation that Aboriginal people are being sentenced at the harsher end of the penalty scale. …
